Redwood Landfill, located next to San Francisco Bay, is threatening California's largest tidal marsh. The Wetlands Dump is surrounded on three sides by water, sits between two active earthquake faults in a floodplain.

The Green Coalition is advocating for the below Four Principles to ensure safer and more financially responsible practices at the Dump, and to encourage waste reduction in Marin. The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) will be conducting a permit hearing on Waste Management's discharging into the Bay on July 8th ,9 AM at 1515 Clay St, Oakland. Please plan to attend these critical hearings and make your views known. Urge the water board for independent water testing, RWQCB is proposing that the landfill perform infrequent self monitoring!

1. Marin Must Ban Green and Organic Waste from the Dump, and Convert it to a Resource in a Manner that Reduces Greenhouse Gas.
3. Adopt a Mitigation Fee to Discourage Waste, to Fund Zero Waste Initiatives, and to Pay for an Independent Monitor who Reports to the Community.
2. Marin Must Insist on Strong Earthquake, Groundwater, and Flood Protections at the Dump.
4. Insist on a Real Financial Guarantee or Insurance to Pay for the Inevitable Toxic Clean-up.
